Toronto, December 4 - 8, 2007

networking FANTASY WORLDWIDE Film Festival is an independent not-for-profit organization and the only film festival of its kind bringing together various fantasy, science-fiction and anime genre. Located in Toronto, Canada, the festival has the opportunity to harness the second largest per capita movie-going audience in North America and exhibit globally produced feature, short, animation and documentary films from the genre that has provided 19 of the 20 top best selling box office hits of all time. Filmmakers from all over the world bring their work to celebrate the global imagination, legends and science-fiction on the wide screen.

FANTASY WORLDWIDE aims to celebrate the beauty of fantasy which often provides a key to perceiving reality. Our power to build the future begins with a dream, a fantasy, and that is probably why the fantasy genre has become a mainstream in film industry across the world.

Our showcase includes Feature Films, Shorts, Family and Children's Films, Documentaries and Animation. We welcome all filmmakers and projects from low-budget to blockbuster, beginners to veterans.

New or Aspiring Filmmakers: Seminar

October 16th, 5:30pm-8:30pm

This October, the Fantasy Worldwide Film Festival is bringing experts in the field together to help you get started.

From sound, digital vs. film and funding, to what the critics look for in a film, our seminar will have something for you.

Featured guest speaker: Cameron Bailey (writer, film programmer, broadcaster and film critic)

Time:    5:30-8:30pm (there will be coffee/tea & refreshments served)

Place:    Palmerston Library Theatre

               (library is on Palmerston, just north of Bloor)

Here's a sneak peek at our lineup of seminar speakers: 

William Huffman (Associate Director, Toronto Arts Council)

William Huffman is an arts administrator, curator and writer with a history of extensive involvement on both local and international cultural fronts. Huffman is currently the Associate Director of the Toronto Arts Council (TAC) and Toronto Arts Council Foundation (TACF). Before joining TAC/F in 2002, he worked with a number of visual arts organizations in Ontario  such as Rodman Hall Arts Centre, Blackwood Gallery, Arts Toronto, The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, A Space Gallery, Canadian Art Foundation and Art Gallery of Sudbury. Huffman is a past Board member of Mercer Union Centre for Contemporary Art, Ontario Cultural Human Resources Council, Canadian Artists Representation / Le Front des Artistes Canadiens and Alliance Française de Toronto. He is Founding Director of Le Consortium pour l'echange (France/Canada), a member of the Program Advisory Committee for Art & Art History, a joint program between Sheridan College  and University of Toronto at Mississauga and a member of the Board of Directors of Parkdale Liberty Economic Development Corporation ( Toronto ). In 1999, Huffman created the Art & Art History Program's ongoing William Huffman Award for Excellence in Studio Practice . His past curatorial initiatives include: Aurora: A Survey of New Media Work from Finland (Canada/USA), Head Frame for the 2001 Biennale di Venezia ( Italy ), Stephen Andrews: the 1st part of the 2nd half (France/Italy/Canada), traductions (Montréal) and La Grande Expérience for Toronto 's inaugural Nuit Blanche . The Ambassade de France recently appointed Huffman as Commissioner of the Marseille-Toronto visual and media art exchange initiative scheduled to launch in 2008.

Sunny Widerman has been a tax preparer and advisor since 2002, and has prepared hundreds of returns for small business owners, freelancers, and artists.

She focuses on a collaborative, non-threatening approach to tax preparation and planning, and on presenting information in clear, jargon free language.



Cameron Bailey (Writer, Film Programmer, Broadcaster & Critic)

CAMERON BAILEY is a writer, broadcaster and film programmer. For 12 years he has selected films for the Toronto International Film Festival, where he founded its Planet Africa section. Since 1988 he has reviewed film and video for Toronto's NOW magazine and then CBC Radio One. His 2004 short film Hotel Saudade made its US premiere at the Museum of Modern Art.
