Submission Procedures and Regulations

The Festival is NOT accepting the submissions for 2008 event yet.

The festival aims to foster the development and promotion of fantasy filmmaking around the world. We focus on World Mythology, Fantasy, Mysticism, Magical Realism, Science Fiction, Legend and Archetype, and bring them all together under one tent.
FANTASY WORLDWIDE accepts Feature Films, Shorts, Documentaries and Animation. We welcome all filmmakers and projects from low-budget to blockbuster, beginners to veterans.
Please note that we do not accept horror films.

Format
Films must be submitted on DVD only. The title, screening format and running time must be clearly labeled on the cover. Submitted copies will not be returned but may be collected from Fantasy Worldwide during office hours after the event is over – please arrange for pick-up. 6 weeks after the festival, all uncollected submissions will be recycled.
Eligibility
- All submissions must have been completed no earlier than 2 years before the festival dates.
- Films must not have been released in Canada on any format.
- Submission packages must include a preview copy, DVD, a completed FANTASY WORLDWIDE Submission Form, the correct submission fee and a Press Kit containing 250 word synopsis, full cast and crew credits, a director’s biography, a director’s photograph and 2-5 production stills (CD preferred).
- All films in a language other than English must be subtitled in English.
- Pornography will not be accepted.
Fees
Submission fees should be paid by International Money Order, Master Card Travellers Cheques, American Express Travellers Cheques or cheques from a Canadian bank. We are able to accept submission fees in US Dollars, Canadian Dollars, Great British Pounds or Euro Dollars.
For submissions the fees are as follows:

The submission fee is not refundable.

Shipping and postage costs to and from the festival must be paid by the submitting party, including those for the submission package and, if the film is selected, for all prints, tapes and additional materials sent to and returned from FANTASY WORLDWIDE. FANTASY WORLDWIDE will not accept Cash On Delivery shipments and will not pay any fees incurred in Canadian customs. All charges must be pre-paid. Fantasy Worldwide will not accept submissions if customs and delivery fees have not been paid by the Submitting Party.
Submission packages from outside Canada should be labelled ‘Trade Sample’ on any customs label and, for customs purpose, should be given a value of no more than US$10.
Selection of Films
FANTASY WORLDWIDE intends to complete all selection procedures by Friday, June 16, 2006 and inform all Submitting Parties in writing at that time as to whether their film has been selected. Selected submissions will receive further information about shipping the print or tape to the festival, press and publicity, guest accreditation, contact information and making the most of participating in the festival. A selected print or tape must be received at Fantasy Worldwide no later than ten days before its scheduled screening date.
Festival Screenings and Scheduling
FANTASY WORLDWIDE is equipped to screen 35mm with optical soundtracks; Beta SP. Digital Beta; DVD; VHS only. All tape formats must be NTSC. We cannot accommodate 16mm, Super 16mm or double head formats. The submission copy on DVD or VHS is for preview purposes only. If you wish to screen on DVD or VHS, a second copy must be provided prior to the festival – please note that these formats are not preferable.
FANTASY WORLDWIDE intends to provide the best quality projection possible but will not be held liable or refund fees if there is any failure in the technical quality of the projection. FANTASY WORLDWIDE recommends that the Submitting Party or filmmaker(s), or Print Source Company will insure the festival print or tape for damage or loss.
Screenings are scheduled at the discretion of FANTASY WORLDWIDE. While every effort will be made to adhere to the published schedule, Fantasy Worldwide reserves the right to make changes at any time for any reason.
FANTASY WORLDWIDE will not be liable for any costs claimed as a result of a scheduling change.
No film may be withdrawn from the festival after its selection, and no film may be screened at any other venue during
the festival and before its official presentation without the approval of FANTASY WORLDWIDE.
Festival Awards
Jury Awards for Best Feature, Best Short, Best Documentary, Best Animation and a Special Recognition for a Canadian Filmmaker are presented at the festival. If short listed for a Jury Award, additional preview copies of the film may be requested.
